How to Play

A complete guide to The Honey Chronicles

Getting Started

1Get a Phantom Wallet

OkayCubs runs on the Solana blockchain. You'll need a Phantom wallet โ€” the most popular Solana wallet. Download it as a browser extension from phantom.app. It's free and takes about a minute to set up.

2Own an OkayCubs NFT

To play, you need at least one OkayCubs NFT in your wallet. You can purchase Cubs on secondary marketplaces like Tensor or Magic Eden. Each Cub has unique traits that become your battle stats, so choose wisely โ€” or collect several to find your strongest fighter.

3Connect Your Wallet

Visit the game page and click "Connect Phantom Wallet". The game will verify your NFT holdings on-chain and load all your Cubs. No registration, no passwords, no accounts โ€” just your wallet and your Cubs.

4Select Your Cub

Your Cubs appear in a grid showing their image and name. Click one to select it for battle. The Trait Panel will show your Cub's stats โ€” HP, ATK, DEF, and LCK โ€” derived from their unique NFT traits.

Understanding Stats

Every Cub's battle stats are derived from their NFT traits. Different trait categories influence different stats:

StatWhat It DoesInfluenced By
HP (Health)How much damage you can take before fallingBackground, fur color, rarity
ATK (Attack)Base damage dealt with Strike actionsHeadgear, accessories, expression
DEF (Defense)Damage reduction from enemy attacksClothing, fur pattern, body type
LCK (Luck)Critical hit chance and dodge probabilityEyes, mouth, special accessories
Rarer traits generally give higher stats, but a well-rounded Cub can outperform a Cub with one extreme stat. Balance matters in the later eras.

Battle System

Combat in The Honey Chronicles is turn-based. Each turn, you choose one of three actions:

โš”๏ธ Strike

A direct attack based on your ATK stat. Damage varies slightly each turn, and your LCK stat gives a chance to land a critical hit for double damage. This is your primary offensive tool.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Fortify

Raise your defenses for the turn. Reduces incoming damage significantly and can stack with your natural DEF stat. Use this when the enemy is about to unleash a powerful attack โ€” the battle log often gives hints.

๐Ÿฏ Honey Burst

Your Cub channels the power of the era's honey for a special attack. Honey Bursts deal heavy damage but have a cooldown โ€” you can't use them every turn. The type of honey varies by era and can have bonus effects.

Watch the battle log carefully. Enemy guardians follow patterns โ€” some telegraph their heavy attacks, giving you a chance to Fortify at the right moment. Learning these patterns is key to surviving the later eras.

Progression and Eras

The game tracks your total victories across all battles. As you accumulate wins, new eras unlock on the World Map:

EraVictories RequiredHoney Power
๐ŸŒ‹ HadeanStartMagma โ€” raw damage
๐Ÿชจ Archean5 winsStone โ€” defense boost
๐ŸŒŠ Proterozoic15 winsTide โ€” HP regeneration
๐ŸŒฟ Paleozoic30 winsBloom โ€” speed/venom
๐Ÿฆ• Mesozoic50 winsTitan โ€” brute force
โ„๏ธ Cenozoic75 winsFrost โ€” time control

Each era has its own pool of enemy guardians with increasing difficulty. Enemies in later eras have higher stats, more complex attack patterns, and special abilities tied to their era's honey.

Defeat and Revival

When your Cub's HP reaches zero, they've fallen in battle. You have two choices:

Revive: Watch a short ad to restore your Cub to full HP and continue the fight exactly where you left off. This is the only way to recover mid-battle.

Retreat: Return to the strata (main screen). Your Cub is fully healed, but the battle progress is lost โ€” you'll face a new random guardian next time.

Demo Mode

Don't have an OkayCubs NFT yet? The game offers a Demo Mode with sample Cubs so you can experience the battle system before buying. Demo progress isn't saved, but it gives you a full taste of the combat mechanics and era exploration.
